FRC Virtual Pits
An important aspect of FIRST is the social interaction between teams. At our traditional events, students and visitors spend time wandering the pits to scout, learn from each other, have social interaction , and collect swag. Our friends in the PNW District have been experimenting with virtual pits this fall and we think this is a great way to kickoff the 2021 Infinite Recharge Take 2 season.
Building on the PNW lessons learned and best practices, here's how this will work.
1) Teams register in advance to host a virtual pit. We will post a list of teams hosting a virtual pit on January 6, 2021.
2) Anyone visiting the virtual pits (guests, parents, mentors, team members) will be encouraged to change 'rooms' every 10 minutes. A message will be sent to everyone at the 9 minute mark to give a 1 minute notice about changing rooms.
3) Teams will have a prepared presentation, activity or video to share for the first 3-5 minutes. This is followed by a Q&A and open discussion period.
4) We will have a scavenger hunt to encourage everyone to visit multiple pits. Teams will also be offering creative ways to collect swag while visiting their pit.

Collaborative Brainstorming and Discussion Rooms
This is the time for TEAM NORTH CAROLINA to really shine! Since our teams will be randomly assigned into competition pods for judging of the FIRST at Home Challenges, the odds of an NC team competing against an NC team are not high. So our teams are encouraged to share ideas, hints, tips and tricks for approaches to meeting the FIRST at Home Challenges. We will have a breakout room ready for each of the challenges to be announced. Team members can start collaborating on how to approach each challenge. We will also have a number of rooms ready for discussions on any topic that teams would like to explore that day.
