EVENT TICKETSPlease have your parents, sponsors and friends get their ‘tickets’ early. EVERYONE who attends the event will be given a button to use for admission. Tickets can be obtained here.
FOODWe have had challenges during events where teams have been allowed to bring in outside food. Our event last weekend where no food was allowed was our least stressful event. Challenges have included:
With that said, we also recognize the challenges specific to this venue with a lack of nearby food options and no concessions in the arena. Add to that the weather forecast and we understand that picnicking outside is likely not viable.
Teams will be allowed to bring in outside food. We will provide 16 tables - 1 table per two teams for storage. Teams are allowed to eat in the arena. We ask that you respect the facility and not leave trash in the seating areas, aisles or concourse. We also ask that you respect the area designated for team food and not extend further into the concourse area.
Please help us be good guests and keep the team food area clean at all times. Thank you.
TEAM SOCIAL SPONSORED BY CAMPBELL UNIVERSITYWe are excited to share that Campbell University will be hosting a Team Social on Saturday night for all teams. The social will begin at 6:30 pm in the arena concourse with a boxed dinner of a 5" sub and chips for all team members and mentors. Desserts will be scattered around campus in various buildings that will be open for tours and demos throughout the evening. Please join us in thanking Campbell University for their generosity!
GENERAL RULES AND COMMENTS• Per FIRST Rules: NO NOISEMAKERS!! Only hands and voices making noise in the stands.• Please, do not hold up signs during match play. Be respectful of those around you so that they can also see the match action.• NO SEAT SAVING
If you are thinking of arriving early on Friday to help with set-up, please note this:ONLY volunteers who have registered in VIMS will be admitted into the facility to assist. We do NOT need any additional volunteers for any positions for this event.
We are looking forward to an amazing event next weekend and look forward to seeing each and every one of you and your teams. If you have any questions at any time, please ask.
HAVE FUN and GOOD SKILL to ALL TEAMS!!!!
Marie and Julia
A few updates to help the event run smoothly.
1) UNC Asheville has a strict bag check policy. The policy is posted on our website here. Absolutely NO outside food or drink will be allowed in the main public entrance to the arena. This is strictly enforced. Concessions will be open.
2) UNCA has generously worked out an arrangement for teams to bring in their own lunch, water and snacks. We have 2 classrooms for storing and eating that are outside the arena proper.ALL team food MUST come in the team entrance and be carried by someone with a team badge (student or mentor). No exceptions. For teams that have already competed at an event, please bring your badges with you. We do not provide a second set of badges. For teams that have not yet competed, we will have your badges ready for you when you check-in at Pit Admin. It has come to our attention that some of the teams have made arrangements with outside vendors to deliver lunch to your teams. Please note that you MAY NOT HAVE IT DELIVERED TO THE ARENA. Please arrange a location to meet outside the venue. Food delivered to the arena will be turned away and seriously jeopardizes our ability to allow teams to eat in the classrooms provided.
Finally, UNCA has a very strict recycling and composting policy. They have agreed to provide the necessary containers to help us follow this policy. Please make sure your students are aware of and respect the recycling and composting bins. Details can be found here and here. Feel free to bag your own trash and remove it from campus on your own.
3) Only badged participants will be allowed through the team entrance and no bag checks will occur. Everyone without a badge must go through the main entrance and follow the bag-check policy found here.
NO SEAT SAVING!A reminder that it is a FIRST rule that teams may not save seats in the stands. Please share this message with your parents. We had complaints from a team sponsor that dropped into the event last weekend and was not allowed to sit in a section that was being "saved" by a team. Keep in mind that guests are only sitting in the seats for a few matches. And it's really not GP (Gracious Professionalism) to not allow someone to sit in an empty spot. Help us spread the FIRST ethos of GP at all times at our events.
